Abu Dhabi Overview
With broad boulevards, high-rise buildings and busy shopping malls, Abu Dhabi is one of the most modern cities in the world. Surrounded by major islands which are in the process of developing multi-billion dollar resorts, Abu Dhabi has quietly been transforming itself into a world-class luxury travel and business destination, with a cultural emphasis.
Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island is where the cultural district is set to be located, which will encompass museums, art galleries, performing art centres, as well as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi contemporary art museum, which is scheduled for completion this year and is set to become the largest Guggenheim museum in the world.
Abu Dhabi has several attractions, such as the beautiful Corniche, where the world’s most expensive hotel; the Emirates Palace is located, the Al Hisn Fort, Breakwater Island, Sheikh Zayed mosque, and the annual Formula 1 races. The city’s 2030 Urban Structure Framework plan will see the city develop even further with projects for trams, rotating towers and various infrastructure developments into the sea already set in motion.
